Tavis and Petite Terrasse Step In: Relief Distribution for Flood-Affected Families in Medan

The flooding that struck several areas of Medan brought daily life to a halt and caused considerable material loss. In a situation like this, concern counts for little unless it turns into action. The collaboration focused on what matters most in the first days of a disaster: hot meals that are hygienic and nourishing. Working out of Petite Terrasse's professional kitchen, the joint team started before dawn and prepared hundreds of rice packets with a full portion of protein and vegetables, so that families sheltering in evacuation points had enough to keep going under difficult conditions.

The packets were taken straight to the places where residents had gathered, among them the emergency post of the Medan City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). Residents and officers on site welcomed the TAVIS and Petite Terrasse team warmly. “This is not just food. It is a message that they are not facing this alone,” said one of the volunteers at the location.
